Mundanely interesting … today
New outdoor dining set is finally in and now completes the new Japanese-themed backyard space.
It is finished! My Japanese-themed rear courtyard patio and landscape which the house’s main living areas open to, finally completed today! Backyard serenity starts today.
Almost done … I can almost taste the finished product! Still, some minor niggling details need to be corrected to finally call it ‘completed’.
Good progress today. A few minor details need to be addressed, but otherwise, happy with how things are coming together.
Things went much more smoothly today. Boulders placed properly after a meeting with the project site manager, additional plants delivered and installed, and now, the vision is slowly coming into focus.
New plants I selected delivered and installed. But newly placed boulders may need to be moved around.
A bit of a mess of a day. Plant, rock, stone, and boulder materials all selected and delivered without my input. A few pass muster; most will have to be returned and replaced.
Work began this week on the Japanese-themed back courtyard landscape, including a dining patio, fire pit, and lots of rocks, stones, and mossy boulders. Really excited about this one.
Finally completed a long-planned home project (since move-in in late 2013): floor-to-ceiling vertical sliding panels from IKEA for the sliding door in the upstairs Media Room.
The sights and smells of a freshly mowed lawn on the first day of summer.
It’s an annual process: buffing, vacuuming, and polishing the concrete floors in the house to give it that ‘brand new, wet look’ shine!
Set the LeKlint Pendant Light up with a Wemo Dimmer Switch. Now it goes from ‘dreamy’ to ‘sunny’!
I made an old childhood favorite: egg custard pie. Cue a flood of memories and a taste of home.
I installed these shelving units in the laundry and mud rooms at the height of this past weekend’s snowpocalypse.
This modern one replaced a traditional Bombay Co. piece that I’ve had for about 20 years.
About a foot of snow fell this weekend as temps dove into negative teens territory.
I see you eyeing those crispy pork belly bites!
After years of paying a service to mow my 2.5+ acres, I finally decided to get my own riding mower this year - a Kubota Kommander Pro zero turn mower with a 54” deck. Trying it out today, I discovered that driving it straight is quite a finesse skill. I’m going to need more than a few practice sessions before I can actually cut grass.
Been taking photos of the changing leaves around the house, as well as the dramatic mid-autumn moods of late.
Two perspectives of tonight’s sunset. Fall sunsets are the best.
