Putting another of my Florence cooking classes to the test, I made a batch of light-as-air Fior di Latte gelato and enjoyed some with a generous drizzle of the 12-yr old Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale that I brought home from Reggio Emilia. It truly is a taste of heaven, one of life’s little luxuries!

Chocolate Ginger Molasses Cookies
Made a batch of chocolate ginger molasses cookies. Also, two loaves of banana bread, one with chocolate chips. It’s a baked chocolate sweets kinda Sunday evening.
Today at Breakfast Club
The elevated egg sandwich with millionaire’s bacon. Philip partakes in solid food for the first time.

12-Hour Smoke
This Sunday’s project.
Matcha Ice Cream
The first time I had matcha ice cream was in Japan many years ago. It was made by Haagen Dazs, surprisingly, and it quickly became my favorite flavor of that brand. I made matcha ice cream this past weekend using ceremonial grade matcha powder. First time doing so. Haagen Dazs has nothing on it.
Bumper Crop
Neighbor stopped by this evening to drop off some bounty from this year’s bumper crop. And now all I can think of are some fresh pico de gallo, maybe Margherita pizza, or better yet, pasta puttanesca ...
Today at Breakfast Club
Good old reliable Trifecta with a twist: carrot cake pancake and millionaire’s bacon.
Midweek Dine-out
A co-worker/good friend from my Canada days was in town so dinner at a local pizzeria (Harvest in old Dublin) was in order.
Tapas Night
First time at VASO Rooftop Restaurant at AC Hotel Dublin was quite a lovely experience. Food was great (tapas!) and the ambiance was unbeatable. Definitely worth many return trips!
Baked Treats
A custard-filled Cruffin, a bi-color Matcha croissant, a sweet cinnamon chocolate croissant, and a cappuccino to wake things up from Dan The Baker’s Toast Bar. Perfect Saturday morning breakfast fare.
Boodle Fight
Filipino food in Columbus, OH! Tonight’s dinner was not only fantastic, it was also so much fun!
Today at Breakfast Club
The ‘elevated’ egg sandwich, with sides of potatoes and millionaire’s maple-candied bacon.
Yakiniku at Home
A little bit of Korean-style BBQ on my Japanese-style tabletop charcoal grill ("shichirin").
Roasted Bone Marrow
Whole Foods doesn’t always have these but they had them today and I couldn’t help myself. Seasoned simply with sea salt, fresh ground black pepper, and EVOO. In the oven at 450 degrees and out in 15 minutes. Perfect with some capers and a splash of fresh squeezed lemon juice on toast.
Yakitori at Home
Trying out the new Japanese-style charcoal grill box with some homemade yakitori.
