A potluck dinner with my breakfast club gang closes out the year with a ‘flavor’ bang! Lots of gluten-free fare and fine bourbon cocktails highlighted the evening, just before the ball dropped in Times Square.
Mundanely interesting … today

Step-by-step deconstruction of my homemade chicken teriyaki dinner this past Sunday. Teriyaki sauce and miso soup were made from scratch as well.

Our annual ‘Breakfast Club’ holiday get-together was a bit late this year due to schedule conflicts as well as some illness. Nevertheless, our potluck dinner was a success, largely gluten-free, but not without Manhattans.

I made tiramisu for dessert and others contributed their own to this family dinner on Tuesday night.
Another Korean BBQ this past weekend, this time, with Jeremy, who, back in his JBAD days, was part of the awesome design team that worked on my house. He and his wife also brought over everything needed for an evening’s worth of old-fashioneds.
My buddy Brad stopped by Thursday afternoon after I got back from donating blood to help me with some small projects at home. Afterwards, we decided to hit downtown Powell for some dinner at Huli Huli.
Started with crab rangoon dip paired with prawn crackers. And lobster roll is in the menu so of course I had to have it.
Colleagues from the EU were in town for three weeks (work-related) so we had to go to Bonifacio in Grandview for a can’t miss boodle feast, Filipino-style.
Work colleague and good friend @steve_rodia was in town from B-ham, AL so it was a good reason to get together for some good eats.
Putting the Italian cooking classes I took in Florence to the test at home.
A delectable night of Filipino food, “kamayan”-style, with co-workers.
Hot and spicy miso fireball ramen with chicken karaage and chashu bao. Just what I needed on a freezing Friday night.
Former co-worker reunion and dinner.
Midweek, I got tired of the weekend pre-cooked, microwave-heated dinner fare for weeknights so I went full-on hump day Big Green Egg gangsta on these tender-juicy bad boys.
Tapas night at VASO Rooftop Lounge, AC Marriott, Dublin.
A co-worker/good friend from my Canada days was in town so dinner at a local pizzeria (Harvest in old Dublin) was in order.
Tonight’s dinner: fresh-ground bacon beef short rib burger with grated Pecorino Romano cheese on a toasted brioche bun.
First time at VASO Rooftop Restaurant at AC Hotel Dublin was quite a lovely experience. Food was great (tapas!) and the ambiance was unbeatable. Definitely worth many return trips!
